Concept

Established fact

Information supported by reliable external sources a reader can inspect.

In this archive, “fact” is a high bar. It is not a synonym for “I am confident.” A statement earns this label only when a source record exists and a skeptical reader could follow it. If the source is missing, the statement is unlabeled or marked as something weaker.
